Penalties for Non-Payment

If you travel through the M50 toll point without an account and fail to pay by the deadline, a series of penalty charges will apply. These escalate significantly over time, so it is crucial to pay promptly.

Initial Penalty

Toll + €4.00

If payment is not received by 8pm the day after travel, a €4 penalty is added to the standard toll amount.

After 14 Days

+ €51.00 additional

If the toll and initial penalty remain unpaid after 14 days, an additional €51 is added to the outstanding balance.

After 56 Days

+ €128.00 additional

Continued non-payment results in a further €128 penalty. At this stage, the matter is referred to solicitors for collection.

Legal Proceedings

Court action + costs

If payment is still not received, legal proceedings may be initiated through the District Court, with additional court costs and fees.

Avoid Penalties

The simplest way to avoid penalties is to open a Tag or Video account. If you must pay as an unregistered user, set a reminder to pay before 8pm the following day. For more tips, see our Tips & Advice page.
